The medieval city of Carcassonne is the largest fortress in Europe and a remarkable illustration of what was once a fortified medieval town.  Located on top of a rocky outcrop that dominates the course of the Aude. It bears witness to 1,000 years of military architecture and more than 2,600 years of history.

The city has ramparts, some of which date back to the 6th century. It is surrounded by 2 enclosures, developing 3 kilometers of ramparts with many towers. The city is also home to a 12th century castle and the Romanesque and Gothic church of Saint Nazarius (11th-14th centuries), which has remarkable stained glass windows and a statuary.

The Château Comtal was built in the 12th century and constantly modified in the following centuries. A rich and varied visit is proposed including many exclusive spaces, ramparts, hoardings, projection room and lapidary museum.

Château de Miramont.Nestled on the slopes of d’Alaric Mountain, the Château de Miramont was a bastion of Cathar resistance against the 13th century Crusades.

Famous for its 12th century abbey and its 8th century bridge, Lagrasse is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Today, the Abbey is divided into two parts. The first, the smallest, is administered by the Aude General Council. The second, the largest, is administered by the Canon Regulars of the Mother of God. We offer two tours to discover this magnificent Abbey in its entirety.

In 118 BC, Narbonne was the first Roman colony outside Italy. Its 2500 years of history explain why visiting the city is a true journey through time. Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Golden Age of Wine, its rich past has left a magnificent heritage.

In a radiant Gothic style, the Cathedral of St. Justus stands out for its unique choir, whose vaults rise more than 40 meters high. Built between 1272 and 1340, it has remained unfinished since then. The Treasury Room, also known as the Acoustic Room, offers a rich and valuable collection of liturgical objects, ivories, goldsmiths and tapestries.

Leaning against the Massif de la Clape, surrounded by the sea and by the Étang de l’Ayrolle, The site, renamed Salin de l’île Saint-Martin or Salin de Gruissan, is a labyrinth of basins and canals spread over 400 hectares on the edge of the village of Gruissan.

Lock of the Cabardès from the High Middle Ages, the site of Lastours constitutes an exceptional ensemble with its four castles built at 300 meters of altitude, at the top of a rocky spur. Cabaret, Surdespine, Quertinheux and Tour Régine dominate the course of the Orbiel. The oldest known remains date back to the Middle Bronze Age around 1,500 BC: a girl, the “the princess with the necklace”, was buried in a cave. Her body was covered with objects including amber beads and jewels evoking Egyptian art.

The castles of Cabaret, Surdespine and Quertinheux existed before the Crusade against the Albigensians, but in a different form from their present appearance. At the time of the flourishing Catharism, Lord Pierre Roger de Cabaret appeared to be closely linked to the followers of the new religion and was attacked by the crusaders in 1209. It was not until 1229 that these strongholds finally surrendered. After the Crusade, the King of France recovered the lords’ property, razed the village and the castles.

Seated on one of the two galleries that frame the stage, the spectator can listen to music inspired by medieval tunes, when the Viscount of Carcassonne arrived followed by his entire court. To show their valor, the young knights engaged in jousts, competing skillfully at quintain, ring jousting and other equestrian exercises. Next comes the tourney, the knights don their helmets and face off against each other, to break their spears or throw their opponent off their horse.

The village of Rennes-le-Château is an original place of pilgrimage because of the incredible history of Father Saunière at the end of the 19th century. His sudden and incomprehensible enrichment in connection with restoration works of the village church has given rise to countless speculations.Did he discover the Cathar treasure, the ransom of Saint Louis, or even… the tomb of Jesus, who ran away and married Mary Magdalene to live here as a family? It is said that the Vatican paid the abbot for his silence…

The secret has given rise to many literary passions and artistic interpretations, but has also provoked the arrival of many “researchers” to undertake excavations on the commune. The building itself of the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene still gives material to interpretation: it is like an episode of The Da Vinci Code. At the entrance, the devil Asmodeus welcomes you under the blessing tree, surmounted by four angels making the sign of the cross.

Dedicated to thermal baths since antiquity, reindeer has managed to preserve its thermal tradition while modernizing its heritage. Its mild and stable climate, its cold and hot springs, long recognized for their therapeutic virtues, this site bore witness to Gallo-Roman colonization, making it a privileged place.
